You gambled again. What to do in the next hour.
First, the part nobody says: a slip does not erase what you have done. The days you did not bet still happened. What matters now is the next hour, because that is where a slip turns into a spiral.
In the next hour
- Stop betting. If you are chasing, the next bet is the one that costs the most. Close the app.
- Take the money out of reach. Move what is left, remove saved cards.
- Do not decide anything big tonight. Not a confession, not a vow, not a plan to make it all back.
- Tell one person. "I slipped tonight. I need you to know." It is shorter than you think and it breaks the secrecy the habit lives on.
Tomorrow
- Lock the accounts you used.
- Look at what was different tonight: tired, stressed, a game on, payday? That is what to protect next time.
- Count the days from today. You start again, you do not start from zero.
The shame
It is the heaviest part and the least useful. It also makes the next bet more likely, because gambling is the thing that has always made the feeling stop. Talking to a person is the way out of that loop, and the helplines below exist for exactly this call.
