How to stop live betting during the game

The game is on, the line moves every play, and the next bet is one tap away. Live betting is built for speed. Slowing it down is the whole job.

Why in-game bets are hard to stop

Each bet feels small and the next one is seconds away. There is no natural break to think, and a loss on one play pulls you straight into the next line. The speed is the problem, not your willpower.

Do these in order

  1. Put the phone down. Face down, across the room. Watch one full drive or possession without it.
  2. Log out of the app. Typing a password back in is a pause you can use.
  3. Turn off the alerts. Notifications from betting apps and odds alerts, all of them.
  4. Text one person. "I keep betting during the game. Can you check on me at halftime?"
  5. Wait for the next break. Halftime, a timeout, the end of the period. Decide then, not mid-play.

Before the next game

Set up the wall before kickoff, not during. Self exclude from every sportsbook and block the sites on your iPhone or Android. If the bets are mostly small, fast ones, read why parlays and prop bets are so hard to stop.

Pause before the next bet

Hold The Bet is free with no account. It shows your own number and reason and holds a 30 second pause before you bet.

Free. No account. Takes two questions.
